Stretch film selected around the pallet and wrapping process
Hand film, machine film and pre-stretch film are not interchangeable by roll weight alone. Pallet shape, load weight, edge profile, containment requirement, wrapping equipment, pre-stretch setting and operator method all affect the suitable film and consumption.
Stretch-film RFQ checklist
- Pallet length, width, loaded height and approximate gross weight
- Load stability, sharp corners, protrusions and ventilation needs
- Hand, machine or pre-stretch application
- Current film width, micron, roll length, net film weight and core size
- Machine model, pre-stretch ratio and wrap programme where applicable
- Clear, coloured or opaque requirement and cling side
- Current consumption or issue to solve, monthly quantity, delivery city and required date

MOQ, trials and lead time
MOQ, trial-roll availability and lead time are confirmed after film type, width, micron, length, core, roll weight, winding, equipment and quantity are reviewed. Compare film consumption per wrapped pallet after a controlled trial rather than comparing gross roll weight alone.
Stretch-film FAQs
Is stretch film the same as shrink film?
No. Stretch film is tensioned around a load and relies on stretch and cling. Shrink film is exposed to controlled heat to contract around a product.
Should I buy hand or machine film?
Choose according to the wrapping process and equipment. Machine film must be matched to the wrapper and pre-stretch system; hand film should be evaluated for operator use and load stability.
How should rolls be compared?
Compare net film weight, width, actual length, micron, core, stretch performance and wrapped-pallet result. Gross roll weight can hide differences in core weight or film length.
