Searches for the best poly bag supplier in Karachi often return long lists, advertisements and broad claims. A buyer cannot verify “best” from a headline. The better approach is to compare manufacturers against one written specification, an approved sample, relevant quality evidence and clear commercial terms.

This guide is designed for procurement, quality, operations and brand teams buying from a plastic bag manufacturer in Karachi, including factories in SITE and nearby industrial areas. It explains what to check before selecting a supplier and what information to send so competing quotations describe the same bag.

Start with the application—not a supplier ranking

A food ingredient liner, garment bag, courier mailer, freezer bag and industrial cover may all be called a poly bag, but they do not need the same material, thickness, seal, cleanliness or documentation. Before asking for prices, define:

  • the packed product, unit weight and any sharp or irregular edges;
  • finished width, length, gusset, flap, lip, holes and opening direction;
  • material or required performance, including clarity and stiffness;
  • nominal micron per layer and the agreed tolerance;
  • bottom seal, side seal, zipper, tape closure or another construction;
  • printing sides, colour count, artwork size and orientation;
  • product-contact, cleanliness, traceability or documentation needs;
  • order quantity, monthly demand, packing format and delivery point.

The Packaging Spec Lab, plastic bag size guide and micron converter can help turn a general requirement into an RFQ. A supplier should clarify missing fields rather than guess them silently.

Why a SITE area factory can be useful—but location is not proof

A polythene SITE area factory may offer practical advantages to Karachi buyers: easier sample handover, shorter travel for technical meetings, local freight planning and faster access when a repeat order needs attention. These are operational benefits, not automatic evidence of product quality.

A distant factory with stronger process control may outperform a nearby one. Conversely, a capable local producer may reduce coordination time. Treat location as one scored factor alongside technical fit, consistency, capacity, communication and total landed cost.

Supplier scorecard for custom and wholesale poly bags

Evaluation area Evidence to request Questions to ask
Technical understanding Written specification and documented assumptions Can the supplier explain material, micron, construction and trade-offs for the application?
Sample approval Plain trial, print proof or approved reference sample Which characteristics will the production order match?
Thickness control Nominal micron, tolerance and measurement records Is thickness stated per layer, and how is variation checked?
Bag conversion Dimension and seal checks How are width, length, gusset, opening and seal position controlled?
Printing control Artwork revision, colour reference and registration limits Who approves the file, orientation, plates/cylinders and repeat artwork?
Material and contact status Grade declaration and documents applicable to the stated use What evidence applies to this exact formulation and order?
Traceability Lot or job identification and retained records Can a complaint be linked to a production batch and approved specification?
Capacity and continuity Agreed schedule and contingency discussion Can recurring demand be planned without weakening specification control?
Commercial clarity Comparable quote with validity, tax, freight and tooling What is included, excluded and variable?
Delivery performance Packing standard, dispatch plan and acceptance process How are shortages, damage and rejected material handled?

Use tests that match the risk

“Strong bag” is not a measurable specification. The required evidence depends on the product and failure mode. Relevant methods may include:

  • ASTM D882 for tensile properties of thin plastic sheeting;
  • ASTM D1709 for impact resistance of plastic film using a free-falling dart; and
  • ASTM F88/F88M for seal strength of flexible barrier materials.

These links do not mean every order needs all three tests. A light garment overwrap may need a different approval plan from a heavy liner or sealed food pouch. Ask the quality or engineering team to define the property, test method, conditioning, sampling and acceptance limit. Comparing a supplier’s number against data generated under a different method can be misleading.

The site’s plastic bag quality-test guide gives a buyer-friendly overview. Where formal laboratory evidence is not proportionate, an approved packing trial and retained sample may still create a clearer acceptance basis than adjectives alone.

Check material and certification claims carefully

Terms such as food grade, pharma grade, biodegradable, recycled, virgin and certified should never be treated as interchangeable marketing labels. Ask what resin and additives are proposed, what product will touch the film, what regulation or customer specification applies, and which current document supports the claim. Confirm whether the certificate covers the legal entity, manufacturing site, process and product in your order.

A logo on a website is not enough. Request the certificate number, scope, issuer and validity, then verify it where possible. For sensitive applications, establish change notification, lot traceability, cleanliness, packing and documentation requirements before sample approval.

Compare printed polybags on more than colour count

Printed bags require an artwork-control process. Send editable artwork, a PDF visual, spot-colour references, print width and height, position from fixed edges, front/back orientation and barcode or small-text requirements. Ask how the film surface is prepared for printing and how registration and colour are approved.

Confirm whether tooling is new, shared or retained; who owns it; how long it is stored; and whether setup charges recur. The custom printed polybag RFQ checklist and plastic bag printing guide provide a complete brief.

Compare price per usable piece—not only price per kilogram

Poly bags are often quoted by kilogram, but a buyer uses pieces. Dimensions, micron, gussets, zipper profiles, handles, ink, tolerances and packing affect the number of bags per kilogram. Two suppliers can quote the same rate per kilogram and deliver different piece yields or different performance.

Use the bag weight calculator and pieces-per-kilogram calculator for planning. Then confirm actual average piece weight, pack count, net order weight and tolerance from the approved specification. Include freight, tax, rejected material, line stoppage and rework when comparing total cost.

MOQ, lead time and capacity questions

A low minimum order may suit a trial but cost more per unit. A larger run can improve manufacturing economics but creates inventory and artwork-obsolescence risk. Ask the supplier to quote a trial quantity, normal production quantity and repeat-order quantity separately.

Lead time should identify its starting point: purchase order, advance payment, artwork approval, material availability or approved sample. Confirm whether delivery is one shipment or staged, and whether the schedule changes for printing, special colours, wide film or non-standard closures.

For a product-led catalogue comparison, FlexiHold publishes an official flexible packaging catalogue, while PackPoly Pakistan presents a public film and bag catalogue. These are discovery aids, not proof that the companies have identical ownership, capabilities, certifications, stock or commercial terms. Contact the relevant entity, use its current quotation and keep its documents separate.

Ten questions for a Karachi poly bag factory

  1. What written specification will control production?
  2. Which material and additives are proposed for this application?
  3. What are the dimensional and micron tolerances?
  4. Which sample, test or acceptance check will be used?
  5. How are artwork, print colour and orientation approved?
  6. How will each production lot or job be identified?
  7. What is the normal MOQ and the separate trial quantity?
  8. When does lead time begin, and what can change it?
  9. Does the price include tooling, packing, tax and delivery?
  10. How are shortages, nonconforming bags and repeat orders handled?

Frequently asked questions

Who is the best plastic bag manufacturer in Karachi?

No supplier is automatically best for every requirement. The best fit is the supplier that can document and repeatedly meet your material, dimensions, micron, construction, printing, quantity, delivery and evidence requirements at an acceptable total cost.

Is a SITE area packaging factory better than a Korangi supplier?

Location can improve sampling and freight, but it does not establish quality. Score both suppliers against the same technical and commercial checklist.

What details are needed for an accurate poly bag quotation?

Provide the application, finished size, gusset, material, micron, colour, seal, printing, quantity, packing, delivery location and any product-contact or test requirements.

How should wholesale plastic bags be compared?

Compare the same specification, actual piece yield, tolerance, packing, evidence, total landed cost and repeat-order control. A kilogram rate alone is not enough.

Should I approve a sample before bulk production?

Use sample or trial approval when fit, seal, clarity, strength, print or product contact is important. Record exactly which properties the sample approves and which remain controlled by the written specification.
