Build the bundle specification first
Give dimensions for one item and the arranged bundle. State item count, orientation, total weight and any tray or pad. Identify handles, open ends and visible areas. Add photographs and a dimensioned drawing.

Sealing details
Describe sealer type, seal-bar width, temperature, dwell and line speed. For split or incomplete seals, provide samples and mark the failure. Film cannot compensate for damaged equipment, contamination or unstable pressure.
Air evacuation and perforation
Trapped air can balloon the pack. State the perforation pattern and dust or moisture concerns. Design perforation with the process; random puncturing can weaken the pack.
Heating and cooling
Record heat-source type, temperature zones, airflow, conveyor speed and cooling time. Excess heat may distort products; insufficient heat leaves loose areas. Handling a hot bundle before it stabilises can cause failure.
Specify measurable film and roll details
A repeat-order standard should include material description, nominal thickness, width or lay-flat, roll length or net film weight, core, roll winding, appearance and perforation. If printing is required, add colours, print side, repeat, orientation, treated surface and approved artwork references. Convert legacy thickness units with the micron-to-gauge tool, but agree the final unit and tolerance in writing.
Film thickness should follow bundle weight, unsupported spans, sharp edges and required handling—not a generic list. The manufacturing source should review feasibility and a physical trial should confirm it.
Diagnose common shrink-pack defects systematically
